TISJA DAMEN - YEAR THREE - INTERNSHIP ONE

I am currently on my placement at Tisja Damen. A luxury lingerie designer, specialized in handcrafted patchwork lingerie and draped silhouettes. Based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. I work mainly with the technical side of her brand - sewing pieces made in the atelier and pattern making. I also have input in design ideas when pattern making and creating new pieces. Here I will show my work and my improvement over the 6 months working for Tisja. I have also assisted on shoots, dressing models and helping out where needed. I have learnt a lot over my time here and it has really pushed me to understand more about my industry from a working perspective.

- TECHNIQUES OF LOVE - SUSPENDER -

Making multiple suspenders meant I had to be very organised as I am used to making one piece. This has really helped me with my speed when making and organisation skills.

- SPHINX - SUSPENDER -

The Sphinx suspender is more complicated to make in some ways than the Techniques of Love as it has more areas that need to be precise. Finishing these pieces to a high standard has been really rewarding as I see how far I have come.

- SPHINX -OPEN BRA -

I find the Sphinx open bra one of the more complicated pieces to make as it has to be but on the stand a lot in order to get the correct fit. I really enjoyed challenging my self making this style.

- SPHINX -BRIEF -

I love making briefs as I like to master things I was not as good at such as the elastication on the gusset.In some ways making knickers is more complicated than bras as it has more pieces.

- GAEA  - ALL PIECES - HARNESS - BRA - BRIEF - THONG

I made all the Gaea pieces (Thong, Brief, Harness, Bra) for the look book as this was part of the new collection. By this stage I realised how massively my sewing had improved as I was able to make more than one piece at a time and understand every step of the making process with no help. 

- POETICA - SUSPENDERS - BRIEFS -

Making the poetica pieces I really enjoyed as I love the fabric so much. I started making different sizes of the briefs and suspenders at the same time. This meant I had to be very organised which I enjoyed as its a skill I I am trying to improve. 

- POETICA BODY - SPHINX BODY -

I worked on the Poetica body and the Sphinx at the same time, amending patterns and changing the style of the gusset for comfort and style purposes. I really enjoyed woking on patterns and learning new ways to amend and change a piece.

I worked on two shoots for Tisja Damen, one for a look book and the other to promote her new collection which is photographed above. My main role was dressing the models, hand sewing any pieces that needed to be taken in or adjusted and overall helping out.
